I’ve seen this exact thing happen four times in my own life, all in males who began smoking pot between 14–16 years of age. We know there’s so much going on then within the brain, hormones, and body. We know that alcohol and other drugs can cause damage during those critical years. So can pot. These boys went from stable kids to high anxiety and then worse. Bi-polar is what all four of them have been diagnosed with, and now they mix anti-psychotic meds with their drug use. It’s a shame. They’re in their early twenties and haven’t left the house, sometimes can’t even leave their rooms. And yes, they have their own rules, the entire family tiptoes around them to give them space. I think there’s a timing issue here, and any drugs taken during those early adolescent years are a gamble for the rest of your life.
